Which central line are you thinking about removing?
Some people have more than one central line. Which line should come out first depends on your treatment needs and is a decision to make with your care team. Choose the line you are thinking about removing or want to discuss with your care team.
External central line
Hickman, Broviac, or PICC
- One or more tubes extend outside your body
- The line may be in your chest or arm
- It is covered with a dressing and requires regular care

Implanted port
Also called a port-a-cath or mediport
- A small device placed under your skin
- No tubing remains outside your body when it is not being used
- A special needle is used to access it when needed
